Our 14-night romantic getaway mixes the splendour of India’s most famous temples and palaces of the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur with an exotic journey by train, plane and boat to the relaxing, golden beaches of Goa. Along the way you can savour the serene beauty of the Taj Mahal, take an elephant ride to the Amber Fort at Jaipur and see how the ancients tracked the stars at the stunning Jantar Mantar golden triangle observatory. Home to so many UNESCO World Heritage sites, the cultural north with its majestic forts and palaces will definitely appeal to both the romantic and the explorer in you.

You’ll make your way from Agra to Jhansi by train, perfect to see the real beauty of rural India and then, you spend time exploring Khajuraho with its sacred complex of temples and monuments and unique sculptures, including the famous Kamasutra Temple. A short plane ride away is Varanasi, also known as Benares, which is often described as the most spiritual city in India. Giant steps, ‘ghats’ lead down to the holy River Ganges where, for centuries, pilgrims have travelled to cleanse their souls. An amazing boat ride on the Ganges awaits in this unique destination.
Our romantic getaway to India also makes time for you to have a relaxing week in gorgeous Goa at the end of your tour. The pace of life in southern India is calmer and Goa retains a distinctly unique atmosphere linked to its Portuguese colonial past. As well as exploring Goa’s rich heritage and its UNESCO sites, you’ll have plenty of time to yourselves to enjoy the amazing beaches, to wander the famous markets and to try the deliciously fresh street food from one of the stalls lining the beachfront. Sipping a cocktail as the sun sets in the beautiful south is an optional extra on your romantic getaway!

Day 1 Delhi:
Arrive in Delhi and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax. Enjoy the facilities of your hotel, the Oberoi Maidens where you will be staying on a bed and breakfast basis. Overnight stay in Delhi.
Day 2 Jaipur:
After breakfast, we leave for Jaipur (transfer time: approx.6h) and the start of our tour to the cultural Golden Triangle. You will be staying at the Alsisar Haveli hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. Overnight stay in Jaipur.
Day 3 Jaipur:
A full-day of sightseeing in Jaipur, also known as the ‘Pink City’, capital of the state of Rajasthan. You’ll visit the stunning Amber Fort where you can enjoy an elephant ride right up to the entrance! Explore the architecture and the many beautiful temples as we also visit the City Palace before heading to the Royal Observatory to see how the ancients tracked the stars. Overnight stay in Jaipur.
Day 4 Agra:
After breakfast, leave for Agra (transfer time: approx.5h), stopping en route to visit Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted capital city of the Mughal Emperor, Akbar and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The rest of the day is spent in Agra visiting the Red Fort and the majestic Taj Mahal. golden triangleYou will be staying at the Wyndham Grand hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 5 Agra - Jhansi:
After late breakfast, board your train to Jhansi (train journey: approx.3h30m). Upon arrival, be transferred to your Jhansi hotel on bed and breakfast basis. Late afternoon, enjoy a city tour in Jhansi including the visit to the Government Museum which houses numerous artifacts and the remains of the Jhansi Fort, constructed in 1613 by Raja Bir Singh Deo. Upon completion, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 6 Jhansi - Khajuraho:
Arrive breakfast, drive to Khajuraho (transfer time: approx. 5h30m), en route visiting Orchha. Visit the Orchha fort complex. The Jahangir Mahal in the fort is known for its delicate work balanced with strong masonry. Raj Mahal, the second palace in this fort complex is well known for its murals, depicting religious themes. Later, visit the Raja Ram Temple. Lord Ram is worshipped here as a king. Also visit the Laxmi Narayan temple, a unique blend of temple and fort architecture. Arrive Khajuraho and check in to Radisson hotel staying on bed and breakfast basis. Overnight in Khajuraho.
Day 7 Khajuraho - Varanasi:
The morning is spent touring the World Heritage Site temples in Khajuraho including the famed Kamasutra Temples, part of the sacred complex of Hindu and Jain monuments and sculptures. Later in the day, a connecting flight takes you to Varanasi where you will be staying at the Radisson hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 8 Varanasi:
Take a heavenly, early morning boat ride on the River Ganges and marvel at the awesome sight of the many ghats along the riverbank. You will also have chance to explore this old Indian city, a centre for Sanskrit and Indian art. At nearby Sarnath, you will see the spot where the Buddha first preached and proclaimed his faith. Overnight stay in Varanasi.
Day 9 Goa:
Depart for your flight to Goa and the start of your beach holiday. The rest of the day is yours to relax at leisure. Overnight stay in Goa.
Day 10-14 Goa:
Relax at your beach hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 15 Goa – Departure:
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to London via Mumbai.
