Sultans, Souks and Shangri-la
The magic and mystique of Oman is impossible to resist. This uniquely unspoilt destination is a land full of history, culture, rugged mountains, bustling souks, desert landscape and beguiling beaches, all along a 1700km coastline encompassing the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
Totally untouched by tourism, there is so much to offer. Muscat, its intriguingly ancient and modern capital, boasts a Sultan’s Palace, beaches, museums, restaurants and traditional souks. In the surrounding region you can overnight in a Bedouin camp, admire the oasis of Wadi Bani Khalid and be introduced to dune and wadi bashing. Musandam in the north is dominated by the mountains rising straight from the sea with numerous coastal villages reached only by boat. In contrast the south with its city of antiquity, Salalah, has an invigorating lush temperate climate, and is known as the perfume capital of Arabia.
