Barefoot Traveller is pleased to help aspiring divers of all ages take the plunge and feel at home in this astonishing underwater world of discovery.

You can start at five years old with the PADI SASY course, actually swim underwater at eight on the PADI Bubble Maker program and then get fully qualified from the age of ten.

At the other end of the scale it is never too late to learn and many of our existing clients started when many of their peers were looking into joining the bowling club!

BSAC have similar programmes and run their courses with more of a club feel.  Although these are the two most popular diving certification agencies, there are plenty of others such as SSI, NAUI and CMAS who run similar programmes.

Beginner courses can be taken at home or on holiday, or both. We’re happy to help you find your nearest UK dive centre - just ask. We recommend a try dive in a pool to begin with. Learning to dive is possible in all our destinations and takes approximately four days of classroom, pool work and the qualifying open water dives in the ocean.

To make the most of your valuable holiday time, you might choose to do a referral course, covering the classroom and pool work in the UK and the open water dives whilst abroad. So come on in – the water’s great!
