Island Escapes- Sri Lanka Holidays Part 2
So moving onto part 2 of my Sri Lanka Holidays, after a blissful night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast which included Sri Lanka’s traditional breakfast staples, I was bright eyed and awake ready for the beach stay edition of my Sri Lanka holidays.
After a two hour drive across vibrant villages, I was at the beach ready to start my Sri Lanka Holidays. My beach for the night which I felt as though it was exclusively booked for me for my Sri Lanka Holidays was the aptly named Jungle Beach in Trincomalee. Miles and miles of empty shoreline with not a soul in sight- this was the perfect start to my beach holiday. After getting settled into my uber luxurious beach cabin and a gorgeous seafood lunch I was on my way to explore this naval town. Trincomalee is famed for its natural deep sea harbour and the area is seemingly untouched by the modern day hustle and bustle. In Trincomalee you can easily find yourself cycling through the town not having to worry about traffic or the relentless horn tooting. After a visit to the stunning Koneswaram hindu temple and the famed yet haunting lover’s leap where many a loved up soul has as you guessed it – leaped to their untimely death, I was yet again on my way to explore the town, the harbour and the nearby hot springs which are known to have healing properties.
After an interesting day of exploration, I was welcomed back to the jungle / beach retreat that is Jungle Beach. After a refreshing private outdoor shower, I headed to the hotel’s restaurant for dinner- I was pleasantly surprised here when I was told that they had organised a special beach dinner just for me. So off I headed to the serene shoreline this time at night where a table was set up just for me under the stars and with the waves lapping at my feet. This dinner was divine and came complete with lobsters, oysters and chilled champagne. This dinner was truly memorable and one of the highlights of my Sri Lanka holidays.
So that’s part two of my Sri Lanka holidays. Sri Lanka holidays for me entailed a pleasant surprise around every corner. Next up will be part three and of my Sri Lanka holidays where I visited another beach resort town for my relaxation.
