Day 1 Depart UK
From selected airports.
Day 2 Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon
Transfer on arrival to your hotel and chance to acclimatise to Saigon life.
Day 3 Saigon
Amongst the city sights, you’ll discover the fascinating Cu Chi Tunnels, the infamous hideout and network of tunnels used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Visit the Holy See Temple at Tay Ninh. Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 4 Saigon/Mekong Delta (transfer time: approx.3h)
Depart Saigon by road for Cai Be to visit the bustling markets and local, traditional crafts. Board the Bassac riverboat, a lovely converted rice barge, and enjoy lunch as you cruise to Chao Lach, stopping for a brief tour of the villages lining the river bank before docking for an on board overnight stay at Tra On.
Day 5 Mekong Delta/Can Tho
Visit the vibrant floating markets at Cai Rang before your drive to Binh Thuy and onwards to Chau Doc. Sample local life with an afternoon boat trip to visit a traditional Cham village and tour of pagodas. Take an afternoon bicycle ride along quiet riverside lanes to get a taste of rural Vietnam.
Day 6 Can Tho/Ho Chi Minh City
Morning at leisure before your scenic drive back to Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon.
Day 7 Ho Chi Minh City/Hue (flight journey: approx.1h)
Morning flight to Hue. Transfer to your hotel and time to relax.
Day 8 Hue
Often called Vietnam’s most beautiful city, enjoy a boat trip to Thien Mu Pagoda and tour the ancient Royal Citadel. In the afternoon visit the grand Tombs of the Emperors.
Day 9 Hue/Hoi An (transfer time: 2h45m)
A stunning drive to Hoi An via China Beach, Marble Mountain and Danang, visiting the traditional Cham Museum and its wooden sculptures.
Day 10 Hoi An
Explore this charming coastal town boasting several UNESCO World Heritage sites including the 16th century Japanese Covered Bridge and Pagoda, the markets selling fruit and vegetables, silk and spices. You can even try your hand at designing and making a traditional lantern. Sunset boat trip on the Thu Bon river.
Day 11 Hoi An/Hanoi (flight journey: approx.1h15m)
Morning departure from Danang to Hanoi. Explore the capital’s city sights, French colonial architecture and the impressive Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature. In the afternoon, visit the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts, the Lake of Restored Sword, and Ngoc Son Temple. A cyclo tour of the old quarter is a relaxing way to end the day and includes a stop at an ancient Vietnamese “long house”. In the evening see a traditional water puppet show.
Day 12 Hanoi/Halong Bay (transfer time: approx.3h45m)
No Vietnam holiday is complete without a trip to the world famous Halong Bay where you’ll take an afternoon boat trip. To stay overnight in Halong Bay on a traditional local Junk – please ask for details.
Day 13 Halong Bay/Hanoi
Return to Hanoi, relax and enjoy the city and your hotel.
Day 14 Hanoi/UK
Departure to the UK
