Our 10-day tour of ‘Honeymoon to Sri Lanka’ makes for the perfect romantic getaway break for Honeymooners / couples wishing to combine culture, adventure and relaxation.

spending the first day rejuvenating beside the palm-tree lined beach at Negombo, you’ll head inland through the lush green mountains towards Dambulla. Calling on-route for lunch at Pinnawala you will have close up photo opportunities with some Asian elephants at the orphanage before completing your journey.

 

Culture & History

The following morning will be an early start to enable you to climb the ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress Sigiriya before it gets too hot. At almost 200 metres high, this UNESCO world heritage site is quite a climb but well worth the effort; the views from the top are absolutely breathtaking. Choosing then between leisure time or additional site-seeing, you will have several opportunities to explore more of this beautiful, culturally rich area such as the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, the ruins of Polonnaruwa and a village safari at Hiriwadunna Village.

 

The drive to Kandy is truly beautiful. You will pass by tea plantations and biodiverse rainforest on-route and even visit a spice garden where you will be able to ‘a taste of Sri Lanka’ to take home. Kandy is the last capital city of the ancient kings and whilst here, you will visit the most sacred Buddhist temples of all, the Temple of the Tooth Relic, located in the royal palace complex. This golden-roofed Temple houses Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist relic – a tooth of Buddha. As well as the main temple, the complex includes a series of smaller temples, shrines and museums.

 

You will also have the opportunity to see how tea is produced and taste the freshest cup of tea imaginable at a Tea Factory as you make your way to the city of Nuwara Eliya. Once there, you can enjoy either a guided city tour or take a leisurely stroll at your own pace through the delightful botanical gardens.

 

Wild Life

Heading further south, you will visit the Ravana Falls in Ella before continuing to Tissamaharama for your safari at the Yala National Park. Home to a variety of wild animals including 215 bird species, elephants, deer, water buffalo, sloth bears and monkeys, Yala also has one of the highest leopard densities in the world.

 

Beach

Back on the west coast, a trip to Galle wouldn’t be compete without a city tour of the old fort before continuing your journey to Colombo for the last night of your fun packed tour of “Honeymoon to Sri Lanka” – a magical experience to treasure forever!

DAY 1: AIRPORT - NEGOMBO
Arrival meet greet at the airport by our Representative. Thereafter, proceed to Negombo and check-in at The Goldi Sands Hotel/similar. Rest of the day leisure at the hotel followed by overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 2: NEGOMBO – PINNAWALA – DAMBULLA
After breakfast, proceed to Pinnawala and visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. On completion continue to Dambulla and check-in to Tropical Life, Dambulla/similar. Evening at leisure followed by the overnight stay. Optional: Visit the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple at a supplement.

DAY 3: SIGIRIYA
After an early breakfast, proceed to explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. On completion, return to the hotel and the spend the rest of the day at leisure followed by the overnight stay. Other option(s) to be considered after the above excursion: (Supplement given separately) Option 1: Visit the Hiriwadunna Village for a village safari. Option 2: Tour the city ruins of Polonnaruwa.

DAY 4: SIGIRIYA – DAMBULLA – MATALE – KANDY
After breakfast, proceed to Matale and visit a spice garden. Thereafter continue to Kandy and check-in at The Earl’s Regent Hotel/similar. Spend the rest of the day at leisure followed by the overnight stay. Optional: Visit the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple en-route to Matale at a supplement

DAY 5: KANDY
Breakfast at the hotel followed by a leisure time during the morning. Afternoon, tour the city of Kandy followed by a visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. On completion, return to the hotel for the overnight stay. Optional: Visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens in the morning hours at a supplement.

DAY 6: KANDY – RAMBODA – NUWARA ELIYA
After breakfast, leave for Ramboda/Pusselawa and visit a Tea Factory. Thereafter, continue to Nuwara Eliya and check-in at Araliya Green Hills Hotel/similar. Afternoon, tour the city of Nuwara Eliya. A walk in the town/hotel premises could also be suggested. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 7: NUWARA ELIYA – ELLA – TISSAMAHARAMA
After breakfast, leave for Tissamaharama via Ella. Visit the Ravana Falls in Ella and continue to Tissamaharama. On arrival, check-in at Chaarya Resort & Spa/similar. Rest of the day at leisure followed by the overnight stay. Optional: Early morning, proceed to the Horton Plains with breakfast packets from the hotel at a supplement.

DAY 8: TISSAMAHARAMA
Breakfast at the hotel. Clients have the option of doing a safari at the Yala National Park either early morning or afternoon. Overnight stay at the hotel. Optional: Second safari at the Yala National Park at a supplement (if clients choose to do a safari during the morning)

DAY 9: TISSAMAHARAMA – GALLE – COLOMBO
After breakfast, check-out and leave for Galle. In Galle, do a city tour of the old fort. On completion, continue to Colombo via the Southern Express Highway. On arrival, tour the city of Colombo. Thereafter, check-in at Ozo Colombo/similar Hotel the overnight stay.

DAY 10: COLOMBO – AIRPORT
After breakfast, check-out and leave for the airport in time for the departure flight back.
  1. Return international flights from London Heathrow to Colombo
  2. Accommodation in standard rooms on BB 9 nights at the hotels specified or of similar standard.
  3. Transportation by an A/C car as per the above itinerary with an English-speaking driver
  4. Entrance fees to Sigiriya, Kandy Temple & Yala National Park.
  5. Half a day jeep safari in Yala National Park.
